Snow in Savannah—it sounds like a tall tale. But Winter Storm Enzo made it a reality this week. It blanketed the city with up to three inches of snow. For a city that’s more familiar with warm breezes than icy gusts, it was nothing short of magical. We couldn’t resist heading out for a Winter Wander’Bout to enjoy every moment of this rare Southern snow day.
We first stopped at Coffee Bluff Marina. The usually serene waterfront was a snowy oasis. The snow-dusted docks and frosty shore created an otherworldly atmosphere. It was peaceful. We sipped warm coffee and soaked in the view before heading off to explore more of Savannah in its winter coat.
Next up was Forsyth Park, the heart of Savannah. The fountain, already iconic, looked like a snow globe. Locals and visitors were out in full force. Snowball fights broke out on the lawn. Kids built snowmen. Everyone marveled at the rare sight of snow-covered ground and monuments.
But the real adventure began when we picked up Ruby, Jeff's daughter. We saw something unexpected: a group sledding on the side of the Truman Parkway on-ramp. Savannah may not have hills, but the locals were making the most of what they had! Armed with the lid of a plastic storage box, we joined in, laughing and sliding down the snowy slope. Ruby was a natural, and it wasn’t long before we were all grinning from ear to ear.
It was a day of pure joy and playfulness—a rare moment to step back from the usual and embrace a little bit of winter magic. Snow in Savannah is as uncommon as a quiet night on River Street, and we were lucky to experience it firsthand.
We learned that adventure doesn't need grand places or elaborate plans. Sometimes, it's about grabbing a storage lid and finding the nearest snowy hill—or on-ramp. Then, let yourself have fun.
Until next time, we hope you find a little winter magic of your own, wherever you are.
