Exploring the Wild Wonders of Zoo Miami: A Family Adventure
Reflecting on our adventure to Zoo Miami years ago, Calvin and I were met with sweltering heat. Armed with water bottles and sunblock, we ventured into the expansive zoo, immediately captivated by its diverse inhabitants.
Zoo Miami isn’t just a big cage with animals; it’s a sprawling 750 acres of tropical adventure. It boasts over 3,000 animals representing around 500 species, showcasing everything from the exotic Amazonian jaguars to the elegant flamingos.

Refreshing summer adventures
For those planning a visit, especially during Miami's intense heat, it's crucial to stay hydrated. Bringing a refillable water bottle is advisable, as the zoo offers numerous hydration stations throughout the grounds.
Additionally, wearing comfortable shoes is essential, given the zoo's vast 750-acre expanse. To ease the journey, consider renting a Safari Cycle, a four-person bike that allows for a leisurely exploration of the exhibits.
Engaging with the animals can be a highlight of the visit. The Samburu Feeding Station offers guests the opportunity to feed giraffes during select times, with options ranging from $5 for a couple of lettuce leaves to $12 for a basket—a delightful experience for visitors of all ages.
